Asia University's College of Information, Electrical and Electronic Engineering hosts a Generative AI Creative Application and Design Competition Workshop to inspire future technological innovation

Taichung—The College of Information, Electrical, and Communication Engineering at Asia University held a unique "Generative AI Creative Application and Design Competition Workshop" on Saturday, March 9, 2024. The event aimed to enhance students' awareness of innovative applications using Generative AI tools and to encourage developers and creators to leverage their imagination to create works that are both practical and educational. The event took place in the I221 Metaverse Smart Classroom and was simultaneously streamed online, allowing more aspiring individuals to participate in this gathering of technology and creativity.

The workshop opened with welcoming remarks from university officials, followed by sessions divided into the Cultural and Creative Arts group, Logical Thinking Design group, Problem Solving group, and Conceptual Design group. Senior professors from Asia University delivered keynote speeches in each group, exploring in depth the innovative applications of Generative AI across different fields.

In his presentation for the Logical Thinking Design group, Professor Chih-Jen Tsai proposed five key design focuses or directions: complementary creativity and innovation, data-driven design processes, iteration and optimization, enhanced learning and innovation directions, and user experience and personalization. Professor Tsai emphasized that the combination of logical thinking design and Generative AI can not only promote innovative thinking and diversified creative output but also improve the precision and efficiency of design, thereby achieving optimal design solutions.

To provide participants with a more intuitive understanding of the practical application of Generative AI, Professor Tsai used the creation of a cookbook as an example, demonstrating how to use Generative AI Copilot to read a photo of a dish to generate its recipe, thereby showcasing the practicality and innovative potential of Generative AI in daily life.

The highlight of the event was the sharing session by Dean Hsi-Chin Hung. Using a style transfer project as an example, he explained in detail the integrity required in the design and innovation of competition entries. Dean Hung's speech not only provided practical case analyses but also helped participants understand how to effectively integrate Generative AI technology during the creative product design process to enhance the innovation and utility of their work. The final stage of the workshop consisted of a comprehensive discussion on Generative AI, where participants actively asked questions and engaged in deep exchanges with the speakers to jointly explore the future development directions and application prospects of Generative AI technology. This discussion not only deepened the participants' understanding of Generative AI technology but also opened new avenues for future innovation and application exploration.

The successful hosting of this "Generative AI Creative Application and Design Competition Workshop" not only demonstrates Asia University's leading position in the fields of technology education and research but also provides participants with a platform for learning and exchange, sparking their passion and imagination for utilizing Generative AI for innovative design. Through such activities, the College of Information, Electrical, and Communication Engineering at Asia University hopes to cultivate more technology talents with forward-thinking mindsets and innovative capabilities to contribute to future technological development.

With the rapid development of Generative AI technology, its application potential across various industries is being gradually uncovered. By organizing such workshops, the College of Information, Electrical, and Communication Engineering at Asia University not only provides opportunities to combine academia with practice but also cultivates a new generation of talent with an innovative spirit and technical strength for society, making a significant contribution to the application and development of Generative AI technology. In the future, the College of Information, Electrical, and Communication Engineering at Asia University will continue to commit itself to innovation in technology education and research, providing students with more opportunities for practice and exploration to jointly embrace the future of technological innovation.
