On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 10:30 AM, Asia University held the unveiling ceremony for the "AMD Logic and Computing Laboratory" in Laboratory I634 of the College of Information and Electrical Engineering. This event symbolizes a powerful collaboration between Asia University and AMD in the field of medical Large Language Model (LLM) development.
The event was attended by key personnel from Asia University, including President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai, Vice President Tseng Hsien-Hsiung, Associate Dean Chang Wen-Chung, Director Hsien-Ju Ko, Director Chu Hsueh-Ting, Section Chief Tsai Chih-Jen, and Section Chief Ma Rui-Jun. Representing AMD were Senior Vice President Wang Chi-Shang, Senior Vice General Manager Lin Chien-Cheng, Senior Director Huang Wei-Chiao, and Technical Manager Chang Ou-Yu-Hao.
Section Chief Tsai Chih-Jen noted that the newly established "AMD Logic and Computing Laboratory" will utilize AMD's GPU technology to accelerate the training and inference of Large Language Models. This innovative combination will bring new perspectives to the medical field, including supporting physicians in diagnosis, providing personalized medical advice, and performing disease risk assessments.
