To facilitate the seamless integration of academic research capabilities in AI and digital technology with industrial applications, National Central University and the Taoyuan-Taichung Research and Industrialization Platform have jointly organized the "AI+ Exploring Digital Technology Application Patent Matching Event." The event will take place on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the Future Research Space, 3rd Floor, Teaching and Research Building, National Central University. The event aims to promote cross-university patent R&D achievements from the Taoyuan-Taichung Research and Industrialization Platform and facilitate further technology transfer and industry-academia collaboration.

Event highlights and the agenda are shown in Figure 1.

The matching event will invite numerous scholars and experts to introduce the latest industrial trends and forward-looking R&D achievements, engaging in deep technical exchanges with industry representatives. The event is divided into two major themes: "AI Smart Biomedicine" and "AI Industrial Applications/AI Communications," covering multiple keynote speeches and technical demonstrations.

The morning session on "AI Smart Biomedicine" will open with welcoming remarks from a professor of the Department of Biomedical Science and Engineering at National Central University, followed by a series of keynote speeches, including:

- A professor from the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Central University discussing dry EEG monitoring and brain-cognitive imagery rehabilitation technology.
- A professor from the Department of Biomedical Science and Engineering at National Central University introducing ultrasound image processing technology for ultrasound imaging diagnosis, segmentation, recognition, and generative adversarial networks.
- A professor from the Department of Industrial Management at National Central University sharing automatic diagnosis and evaluation of emotion and stress sensing via VR.

Among these, Professor Chih-Jen Tsai from the Precision Health Research Center at Asia University will present a technical introduction titled "Enhancing Renal Tumor Diagnosis via Fine-Tuning Multimodal Large Language Models," accompanied by a poster presentation.

The afternoon session on "AI Industrial Applications/AI Communications" will include:

- A professor from the Department of Computer Science at National Central University discussing the intelligent application of enterprise digital AI.
- A professor from the Department of Computer Science at National Central University introducing indoor positioning and wireless communication technologies.
- A professor from the Department of Computer Science at National Central University sharing data center big data analysis and monitoring technology.

The event will conclude with a Q&A open exchange, providing attendees the opportunity for in-depth discussions with experts and scholars.

Technical Demonstration: Enhancing Renal Tumor Diagnosis via Fine-Tuning Multimodal Large Language Models

Professor Chih-Jen Tsai's technical demonstration will focus on how to utilize fine-tuned Multimodal Large Language Models (LM-LLM) to enhance the interpretability of ultrasound medical imaging, thereby accurately classifying renal tumors as benign or malignant. This technology utilizes Supermicro servers and integrates 64GB AMD M1210 GPUs for high-efficiency computation.

The research background indicates that traditional Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) can only provide classification results and lack interpretability and interactivity. By fine-tuning multimodal large language models, this research can provide more interpretable diagnostic results and ensure their comprehensibility and rationality from a medical perspective.

Expected Benefits

This matching event aims to promote platform patents, facilitate the exchange of specialized technologies with industry, and foster potential industry-academia and technology transfer collaborations. By seamlessly aligning academic research capabilities with industrial needs, it will help drive the development of digital technology and bring new technical breakthroughs and business opportunities to the industry.

Conclusion

The "AI+ Exploring Digital Technology Application Patent Matching Event" will provide a platform for exchange and cooperation between academia and industry, promoting technological innovation and application. We welcome active participation from all sectors to jointly advance the development of digital technology and explore new directions for future technological applications.
